Balestra's music is an original blend of blues and thoughtful compositions with broad influences that encompass artists such as Wayne Shorter, Jimi Hendrix, Nino Rota and The Meters. -- Balestra graduated Berklee with two degrees "cum laude", in Performance and Music Production and Engineering". He had also been one of the four guitarists chosen to perform and represent the school at the annual "Guitar Night Showcase", a true honor considering that the guitar faculty holds over 1,500 guitar students. -- --After relocating in Los Angeles, Balestra started playing some of the cities most legendary and world renowned venues: The Baked Potato, The Whiskey A Go Go, The House Of Blues, The Roxy, Cozy's and Babe's and Ricky's Inn, that was also a subject for an award winning documentary by the same name on the LA blues scene in which Balestra was the youngest musician featured. -- -- In the following years Balestra would tour across the country, in Europe, twice with his own band, cut numerous records, his works as a composer and as a session musician would include credits in award winning films, tv shows and albums. -- "Painting on Silence",features the playing of his trio, as well as guest appearances by some of his friends and fellow musicians Carl Verheyen, Scott Henderson, Steve Trovato, Julien Kasper and Dave Hill.
