Grammy Award Winner Chris Berry is an eclectic singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and highly energetic performer. He has released a dozen albums, scored music for films, and has been collaborating and performing with some of the world's best; such as Eminem, Grateful Dead Drummer Bill Kreutzman, Senegalese Afropop sensation Youssou N'dour, Cuban Legends Los Muñequitos de Mantanzas, Jazz artist Paul Winter, Jamaican rhythm and production duo Sly (Dunbar) and Robbie (Shakespeare), Handel Tucker (Fugees), and many more. Based out of Brooklyn and Hawaii, he is now collaborating with Maverick label Kanaga System Krush with whom he released his newest album King Of Me.
This album is a first of its kind where Chris Berry has electrified and added effects to what has mostly been an acoustic African instrument, the Mbira; and used it to fill the roles normally occupied by a bass guitar and a keyboard. Paired with Ivorian power house kit player Abou Diarrassouba (Alpha Blondy, The Mighty Diamonds, The Wailers); and supported by seasoned percussionist Daniel Moreno (George Benson, Don Cherry, Salif Keita) and young shredding Malian Djembe player, Moussa Camara.
The album also features Chris Berry collaborators and members of The Brazilian Girls, Aaron Johnston and Jesse Murphy, brought in to co-produce the tracks Many Have Not and The Other Ones. Also on this album are smoking singer Awa Sangho from the Ivory coast female super group Les Go De Koteba, and sultry songstress Deja Solis. At last, with a royal mix down from the renowned Oz Fritz, KSK presents Chris Berry's groundbreaking new album, King of Me.
