This is the third in a series of jam session albums that I am doing with Basie. Basie is important not only as the leader and piano player on the album, but also as the catalyst that brings out the best in the other soloists.

There will be other combinations with Basie in the future because I think the small group has been a long neglected facet of his, and I intend to explore it as fully as possible
