The eighth studio album from the revered American indie rockers is the follow-up to 2011's Codes and Keys and is their first not to feature lead guitarist and founding member Chris Walla, who left the band in 2014. Named for the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, and recorded for the first time with an outside producer in the shape of Rich Costey Muse, Interpol, the Vaccines, it marks a return to their core guitar-driven sound after the keyboard-led experiments of its predecessor. The melancholy single "Black Sun" is included.
