Dog Soldier Society was formed in 2009 at 169 Bowery Street, on a rooftop destined for flame. Theband emerged when three members met living in an arts collective on the Bowery called CollectiveHardware - a collective hell-bent on artistic expression ... Having laid down the raucous Dog Soldier track "Fire on the Bowery" in those Collectivewalls that had long inspired the band, a literal fire engulfed the collective on the Bowery, burning theirstudio and everything singer Gabriel Friedman owned, leaving him with just the shirt on his back.Hitting back harder and stronger, within three months of the fire the band regrouped, recovered andcould be found sitting on various NYC rooftops with bottles of 80-proof plotting how to break downindustry doors and anticipating the world tour of this tribe of brothers. Starting fresh on their debutalbum, Fire On The Bowery, Dog Soldier recorded and mixed in twelve days, creating a gem that willsucker punch its listeners with the real deal, old school rock missing of late in the N-Y-C. In it you canhear the influences of The Rolling Stones, The Stooges, The Misfits and even Steppenwolf.The band's raw energy led them to play the launch party for the re-released film The Warriors in NewYork City's Tompkins Square Park and headline the Hell's Angels annual invitational for the New YorkCity chapter local 81. These tough guys can not only roll with the infamously badass but can give back byplaying benefits and fundraisers for an eclectic mix of organizations including Japanese Tsunami reliefgroups and the The Read Project which raises funds to provide books to orphans with AIDS in Africa. They may have regretted it in the morning,but had the curse of making something magical."Named after the legendry band of warriors from the Native American Cheyenne tribe who were knownfor their highly aggressive and effective combat style, The group consists of the wayfaring GabrielFriedman (vocals), Sage Brantley (lead guitar, vocals), Cassidy Gorrell (bass, vocals), and Kevin Tooley(drums). Dog Soldier's music reflects this attitude: no retreat, no surrender, victory or death.
