This band is being compared to Radiohead in the Kid A years. I have to disagree. I'd rather listen to this. Somewhere along the line, Radiohead stopped making "songs" and started making "soundscapes" or "moods" or something. This album is as if Kid A and the Bends got happily married. There is song structure and a beautiful and strong lead vocal (like Muse without the strident or harsh opera-rock or like Starsailor or Travis but more edgy, I guess) and GUITAR. They DO borrow a bit from the mood-creation ethic of Radiohead, but that's only about 20% of their sound. The band sounds huge, too. There are a lot of moving parts and layers on some of the songs, but they know how to be straightforward and honest, too. If you like the soundclips, the full-length songs won't disappoint. There is enough meat on the bone in terms of complexity versus melody.
