MEMPHIS-BASED BAND 'THE FUZZ' // HECTOR BOBO/HARLAN T - In before someone over intellectualizes and plugs their music blog in a review on this raw rock n' roll beast. Oh, the genius of Ty Segall! Let's not overshadow his cohorts, however! These young men and women are already collectively and prolifically releasing albums at an unbelievable rate. Each one unique yet there is some cohesive thread you can't quite put your finger on that connects them all. I won't go through song by song on this one and namedrop some possible influences or attempt to capture the essence of a jaw dropping sonic creation with words. Dirty rock n' roll with Segall on drums rather than guitar. A throwback vibe of sorts reminiscent of the signature Detroit sound, and of course the spirit of the beginnings of metal. And yes psychedelia will always make its way in there. Just buy it already and hear it for yourself!
