Heath Green & The Makeshifters (Audio CD, 03/10/17)

Heath Green has been recording and performing in the Deep South for some 15 years and despite his undoubted talent as both a singer, keys man and songwriter he’s relatively unknown. Given the right breaks that might all change with this self-titled debut album from his new outfit, The Makeshifters. Green is joined by long term partner in crime Jason Lucia (also of 13 Ghosts & Dead String Brothers) on drums and Jody Nelson on guitar and Greg Slamen on bass (out of Through the Sparks). They’ve recorded one of those albums that is an unexpected joy to hear from the first tune, and furthermore one of those albums that you want your friends to love and the whole world to hear. The fact that it’s an unreconstructed yet thoroughly modern southern rock album just adds to the allure.
