The Horsies released two CDs, this is their first. And what a great album it is! In a town known for its abundance of eclectic acts these intellectuals from Austin, Texas create a driving, danceable sound with musical extras like penny whistles, clarinets, bongos and a variety of male and female vocals. Standout songs include "Long Hair Man" (a radio hit in Austin in the mid nineties) and the very clever, beatnik style, "Noam Chomsky." There's not a bad song on this album, both the music and lyrics are exceptional. The Horsies occasionally do a reunion show, the last one was in December of 2012 at Austin's famous Continental Club.
