Though women have been an important part of the electronic music scene, they particularly came out of their shells in the late '90s and with the break of 2000. With high-profile DJs, women were finally being publicly recognized for their long-running contributions to electronic music. With that, so marks the entrance of Lady D and her first mix CD Naked Kaleidoscope. Running along the same path as the deep house that has become associated with Chicago natives Mark Farina and DJ Heather, Lady D has served up a nice, smooth, and easy set of house music. Hers is the style of house music driven by old funk and tribal rhythm rather than roller-coasting builds and tear downs. Highly suggested for those that are fans of the Farina sound and the soulful productions of Moodyman, Lady D has made a clean, talented, and choice premiere.
