Every song is uniquely structured with the familiar synth's that we all remember from earlier days. The percussion from Skinny and Lil' Dan adds a thunderous dynamic to several songs, bridging the gaps between the ambient, ballad-esque tracks.
The vocal work is impeccable. Jeffery Nothing has taken his original pitch and soared above, reaching stronger highs and lows, emphasizing every lyric. Waylon offers more southern swagger in several songs, but still keeps that raging tone we first heard in Savior Sorrow, and also slows it down a bit with his softer ballad, candy sweet style of singing.
The samples are nonetheless original, with the voices of little kids offering a glimpse of untainted innocence that humanity is first born with.
The baseline and guitar work shines brightly. Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children is their second effort with only Gravy on guitars and he anchors the entire album with impeccable riffs, melodies, and well places solos.
All in all this album delivers what true Mushroomhead fans needed.
