First, they reproduced the album as close as possible to what the original release would have looked like (according to my humble research). The b&w gatefold picture of the band is a nice piece of nostalgia. Even the back of the jacket does not have a bar code! They did this by inserting a paper clone of the back of the jacket between the jacket of the album itself and the outer plastic wrapper. Once you remove both pieces, you have an album that looks and feels like a circa 1966/7 Capitol release. Both labels are the classic "rainbow" design.Second, the inner picture sleeves are absolutely beautiful, right down to the font they chose to print the lyrics, which is identical to the font Capitol used for some of their 60s releases. Yes, I do agree with one other reviewer who commented on how difficult it was to get the albums out of the sleeves, but for me it is was no biggie since I usually put my lps in plastic sleeves anyway. One sleeve has a cool picture of Brian staring at an hour glass on one side and his liner notes/ essay on the other, which, yes, are bit revisionist, but that's ok: you know Brian was not going to talk about how unsupportive some of the band members were to the original project. The second sleeve has the lyrics and credits.Third, it is the little things. If you look carefully at the deadwax of Side One, you can see the words "Dumb Angel"--a reference to the original title of SMiLE. On Side Two there's the touching "For Carl + Dennis." Nice details!
