Chihuahua, Mexico has at least one good, decent man working on its police force amid the corrupt or careless. Marco Ruiz is a family man who cares about laws and the people he's supposed to protect. He knows that his city is corrupt, overrun by drug cartels, and yet, he fights every day against the decline using whatever means necessary. Detective Sonya Cross has Aspergers, which often gives her a direct, no-nonsense approach to the laws and proper procedures that must be followed. She doesn't like deviations or the way in which Ruiz might get what he wants. When a body is dumped on the bridge between El Paso and the Juarez border, the two detectives must work together to stop a serial killer from striking again. The case quickly pulls them into a string of murders on the border, a scene already consumed by illegal immigration, drug trafficking, violence and prostitution.
